The Aberdeenshire region played host to one of the most popular television shows in Norway, as contestants of a dating show were filmed visiting some of the North-east’s top tourist attractions.
The television series which is based on the British show The Farmer Wants a Wife, regularly attracts over 600,000 viewers and sees farmers being matched with their ideal partner. The culmination of the series sees each couple visit an overseas destination of their choice for a short romantic trip away.
Filming of the episode took place in August (2017) and was broadcast in late December. During their trip contestants Erik and his partner Maria visited Dunnottar Castle, Lochter Activity Park, The Cowshed, The Bay Fish and Chips, Fyvie Castle, Ma Cameron’s and Raemoir House Hotel.
Nikki Morris-Laing, marketing director of VisitAberdeenshire said, “We worked with the television production company to bring the show to Aberdeen as Norway is one of our key international markets. With over 11% of the total population of Norway watching on a regular basis, it’s a fantastic opportunity for us to highlight a few of the top attractions in North-east Scotland, and hopefully encourage more Norwegians to visit Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.”
